safeguarding Swindon's children together

Information for Families

The Swindon Parenting Handbook

Swindon LSCB distributed copies of the Swindon Parenting Handbook to the parents or carers of all children aged 0 to 11 living in Swindon at the end of April 2008.

A key role for all Safeguarding Boards is to raise awareness within their locality of the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. In particular, it is important that we provide parents and carers with the information that may help them to keep their children safe.

Parenting can bring great fulfilment and joy. However, the role of a parent is sometimes challenging as well as rewarding. It’s a job where very little training is given to prepare parents for what lies ahead.

Swindon LSCB has produced their Parenting Handbook in the hope that it can offer some ideas and information to help you find your way through what can be a maze of issues and advice. It lists some of the warning signs of particular difficulties and offers helpful tips. Contacts and further information you can follow up when you are making decisions or worrying about your child have also been included.
