Safer Recruitment and Allegations Against Staff
Swindon LSCB have set a target that all member organisations and agencies have at least one member of a recruitment panel for any role that involves working with children and young people must have attended this training or a similar course by April 2009.
As a result of work done so far, the Head Teacher or their deputy in over 90% of Swindon Schools had received Safer Recruitment Training by November 2007.
We are now running regular training sessions for staff from all agencies on Safer Recruitment and Allegations Against Staff - book your places now! (See the Training pages on this site for details of courses and how to book.)
The procedures for Allegations Against Staff are available on the South West Child Protection Procedures website, with a local Allegations page on this site. This includes a link to supporting documents on the GOSE (Government Office South East) website, including the very helpful Guidance for Safer Working Practice for Adults who Work with Children and Young People (November 2007). We recommend this to anyone working with children and young people, especially new staff.
The LSCB is also forming a new sub-group to take forward the key work we have been doing around Safer Recruitment and Allegations Against Staff, chaired by Adina Grace, Designated Nurse & Assistant Director Commissioning Team, PCT.
