Hidden Harm – Three Years On

On 9 February The Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs (ACMD) published Hidden Harm - Three Years On, Realities, Challenges and Opportunities.

The report describes and comments on how the 48 recommendations of Hidden Harm have been implemented to meet the needs children affected by parental substance use.

The ACMD felt so strongly about the findings of the report that they decided toe stablish a specific Working Group to monitor and promote the implementation of the recommendations in the four countries of the United Kingdom - the first time that such a Group had been set up by the ACMD.

The main purposes of the report are to look at progress, to provide examples of good practice and to identify key learning for the future. It indicates that greatest progress is being made where the needs of children of problem drug and alcohol users are identified and addressed by a shared strategic approach at national, regional and local level.
