Serious Case Review Event
Improving Safeguarding Practice’

Thursday 26 February 2009 (9.30 – 4.30)

Organised by Swindon LSCB for local multi-agency practitioners.

Advance information (further details available shortly)

Aim:

  • To disseminate and increase awareness of the learning from serious case reviews and to explore effective ways to ensure that this learning makes a difference for children and families in Swindon.

The programme is not yet finalised, but it is hoped that the day will provide:

  • An overview of what has changed as a result of the actions taken in response to serious case reviews
  • An update on themes emerging from the more recent reviews
  • An outline of national findings, based on the two documents published in 2008, Improving safeguarding practice; study of serious case review 2001- 2003 and Analysing child deaths and serious injury through abuse and neglect: what can we learn?
  • An opportunity to consider how we can learn not only from Serious Case Reviews but from best practice.
