See the Adult, See the Child Launch Event

Friday 13 March 2009

Over 100 people attended Swindon LSCB's launch of their new See the Adult, See the Child protocol. As a result of the day, a group is being formed to take forward work to embed the protocol into practice.

See the Adult, See the Child is a multi-agency service protocol for the assessment, support and case management of children and families where the parent(s) have additional unmet needs.

The additional need could be a mental health issue, substance misuse issue, a disability, learning difficulty or that the parent is in prison or is/has been involved in criminal activity. It may also relate to a child or young person taking on inappropriate levels of caring responsibility.

The level of the unmet need may not meet thresholds across the range of adultservices but still needs to be taken into consideration in the context of both assessing and meeting the child's needs.
