New South West Child Protection Procedures

SWCPP Logo

The new interactive, web-based South West Child Protection Procedures came into force from midnight on 31 January 2007!

You can access them at:
www.swcpp.org.uk

This means that the old 'Purple Book' is now obsolete and should be destroyed.

Core Procedures (NOW LIVE!)

The Core Procedures cover managing individual cases, from initial concern through to de-registration/ resolution of multi-agency child protection plan. For each topic, they include Key Points, How to Do It and Lessons From Research. Where they make reference to Working Together 2006, you will find links directly into the source text for easy reference.

In addition, a set of appendices provides additional clarification on specific issues and terms, for example Signs and symptoms of possible child abuse, Parental responsibility, Child's voice etc.

Additional Procedures and Supplementary Guidance

Additional procedures and supplementary guidance are being developed by the South West Consortium over the coming months. This guidance will fully replace and expand on the protocols and practice guidance previously included in 'The Purple Book'. In the meantime, please refer to the existing additional guidance as provided through the Workers section of this website.
