Describing U-Turn, Esther says:
- We are a specialist service in Swindon working with young people who misuse alcohol and drugs (all illicit substances, solvents, prescribed medication, excluding tobacco).
- We work with 10-18 year olds.
- We work very closely with our partners from a variety of statutory children’s services and voluntary groups.
- We accept referrals from all professionals and would like to encourage referrals from young people and their parents or carers over the phone, by e-mail, by fax or by post.
- We can provide a full assessment in relation to alcohol and substance misuse, Cognitive-behavioural interventions, motivational interviewing, specialist prescribing. We work with young people to help them reduce the harm caused by alcohol and drug misuse and improve their health.
- We can see young people in the places where they feel comfortable.
- We are always keen to find new ways of working in response to need identified by partners or young people.
- We would like to work closely with carers and parents of young people to help them understand issues around alcohol and substance misuse.
- We are available for consultation with professionals on how to work with young people using alcohol and substances.
