Swindon LSCB Training - Safeguarding Children and Domestic Violence
Target Group: Level 1 2 or 3. Staff who work either with children or adults in a variety of settings
Must have attended Child Protection 1
Numbers: 24 Delegates Maximum
Aim
To enable participants to recognise the inter-relationship between domestic violence and child abuse, the impact on children living with a domestic violence situation and the importance of a multi-agency approach to working with children and their carers.
Objectives
On completion of the course, participants should be able to
- define domestic violence.
- describe the barriers that prevent children and women leaving such situation.
- identify the impact and effects of domestic violence on children and young people.
- measure methods of engaging and working with the non-abusing parent and children together or separately.
- describe the effects of stress on parenting.
- demonstrate a multi-agency approach to the work with children and families and its implications.
Course Length: 2 days
