Swindon LSCB Training - Safeguarding Children and Domestic Violence

Target Group: Level 2

Target Group: staff who work regularly with children and young people, but have a particular responsibility for safeguarding.

Must have attended Foundation Training

Numbers: 24 Delegates Maximum

Aim

To enable participants to recognise the inter-relationship between domestic violence and child abuse, the impact on children living with a domestic violence situation and the importance of a multi-agency approach to working with children and their carers.

Objectives

On completion of the course, participants should be able to

  1. define domestic violence.
  2. describe the barriers that prevent children and women leaving such situation.
  3. identify the impact and effects of domestic violence on children and young people.
  4. measure methods of engaging and working with the non-abusing parent and children together or separately.
  5. describe the effects of stress on parenting.
  6. demonstrate a multi-agency approach to the work with children and families and its implications.

Course Length: 2 days
