Services to Children & Young People (Education)

The main focus of the work of the Services to Children and Young People’s Directorate is to further develop preventative work with vulnerable young people so that the Local Authority can support them and give them every opportunity to take their place in society at an appropriate level.

• The Directorate is comprised of the following teams and services:
• The Education Psychology Service
• The Education Support Service
• The Portage Team
• The Primary Behaviour Support Team
• The Special Educational Needs Assessment Team
• The Education Welfare Service
• The Social Inclusion Team
• The Education Other Than at School Service
• Swindon Sure Start
• The Youth Service
• The Play Service
• Plas Pencelli Outdoor Education Centre

In addition there are close links with Connexions, the Teenage Pregnancy team, the Youth Offending Team and other organisations.  We are always seeking to develop creative solutions to identified need and ensuring services are fully integrated to maximise the well-being of children and young people.
