LSCB Annual Conference

Annual Conference 2018

The Swindon LSCB Annual Conference will take place on 7th November 2018 and will focus on Early Help.  Early help mea​ns providing support as soon as a problem emerges, at any point in a child's life.  Research shows that providing early help is more effective in promoting the welfare of children than reacting later.

2018 LSCB Annual Conference - Early Help​

The Conference will focus on:

  • ​Why is early help important?
  • What does good family based early help look like?
  • What is the impact of early help and intervention?
  • How does Swindon's early help model support practitioners in their work with children and families?
  • A chance to network with multi-agency colleagues
Attendance fees will be:
  • ​£75 per delegate
  • £25 per delegate whose organisations contribute to the Swindon LSCB budget

  Annual Conference 2017

​​The Swindon LSCB Annual Conference took place on 15th November 2017 and was attended by over 260 delegates.  The theme for the day was 'A Multi Agency Conference on Neglect' and featured;

  • ​​A DVD created by children in Swindon

  • Keynotes from Jan Horwath, Emeritus Professor of Child Welfare and Shirley Maginley, NSPCC Senior Consultant.
  • Seminars on Evidencing Neglect and Learning from Serious and Local Case Review
  • Information stands from 8 local agencies

​Feedback was positve and included the following comments;

  • ​"Very thought provoking, made me consider elements of my practice and gave me some practical resources I will use in the future"

  • "Very interesting and informative, a wonderful speaker, I could have listened to more!"

A​nnual Conference 2016

​The Swindon LSCB Annual Conference took place on 12th October 2016.  The theme of the day was 'Laying the Foundations for Effective Safeguarding in Swindon' and the conference featured keynote speakers from Research in Practice and Kate Cairns Associates.  Over 300 delegates attended the event, feedback comments included 

  • 'A great day, I feel like I have lots to take away'

  • 'Thank you for such a useful and vaulable event'
